Weihnachten (op 79) Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy arr. Joseph Knight

This comes from a set of seasonal motets for choir. Mendelssohn composed these motets during the mid-1840’s for the Cathedral Choir of Berlin. Weihnachten literally means “Christmas” and is a celebratory piece. It has been scored for full brass band without percussion and lasts for less than two minutes. It makes a fantastic opening showpiece to any half of a Christmas concert.
